Lamborghini Temerario – The Huracan Successor

After every 10 years of production, Automobili Lamborghini replaces its entry level and top level stock sports cars. For top level it was Murcielago, followed by the Aventador and then the Revuelto, for entry level it was the Gallardo followed by Huracan. Now, the Huracan has completed 10 years of its journey, and it is time for the new blood to take over. Lamborghini participated in the Monterey Car Week 2024 and introduced to the world, the Huracan successor – TEMERARIO. Keeping the company legacy alive, Lamborghini has taken inspiration to name the car on a fighting bull in Italy, which is cool in a way that the company still respects its heritage but please… Temerario is not a cool name, it sounds like Mario having Tomato Soup. The new baby Lambo has many new things to offer, many new things which can be a talking point. What are these things you ask? Lets jump into it.

Engine and Engineering

The Lamborghini Temerario, like its senior the Revuelto is a hybrid super sports car. This is the second car from Lamborghini that has a hybrid powertrain instead of just an ICE engine. The brand feels confident about this shift and guarantees a peaceful city drive, but who needs a peaceful city drive if you can’t hear the pops and crackle from the exhaust. Till few years back, Lamborghini only made Naturally Aspirated V12 engines for their top level cars and it’s special editions, and they were always dependent on Audi for the engines of Gallardo and Huracan as they used the same engine offered in Audi R8. Now, the iconic R8 is discontinued, but this gave Lamborghini the freedom to design and engineer a completely new engine for an entry level variant. Lamborghini gave the Temerario a 8-speed DCT, Twin-Turbocharged 4L V8 with carbon ceramic brakes. Yes, you read that correct a V8 and not a V10 like in the Gallardo and Huracan. This V8 alone produces 790hp and 730nm of torque, Lamborghini further adds 150hp and 300nm of torque from 3 electric motors in the system that makes a total of 940hp. This enormous power results in 0-100 in shocking 2.7secs with a top speed of 340km/h. This Italian bull revs up to 10,000 rpms which is pure bliss in itself. Speaking about the battery, this hybrid Temerario has a 3.8kwh Lithium Ion battery placed right at the centre of the car for best centre of gravity. The battery gets full charged in 30 minutes using a 7KW AC charger. There is no confirmation from Lamborghini about the EV only range for the Temerario. The Revuelto uses a Carbon Fibre chassis but the Temerario uses an Aluminium chassis just like its competition the Ferrari uses in 296 GTB. With a weight of 1850kgs, the Temerario is the heaviest in the competition, yet it’s the quickest.

Design

Lets talk about how the new Lamborghini Temerario looks. At first glance, the Temerario looks bit mix of Huracan and Revuelto, the centre mounted exhaust pipes come from Revuelto, and the love and obsession for Hexagon shaped elements come straight from the Huracan. Hexagon elements include tail lights and LED DRLs that surround the opening for air curtain which starts from the DRLs and let’s the air out from a small opening right before the very slim headlights. These headlights are going to be a big talking point for the Temerario, some people like the slim design, but for some like me, it doesn’t work. The lights are one of the major essence in the design of the car and Lamborghini managed to screw this up. Black plastic in the front bumper that covers a lot of sensors for ADAS doesn’t quite suit the elegance of the car. From the side profile, the Temerario looks really huge thanks to the increased wheelbase, strong muscular shoulders and large air intakes at the bottom and “C” shaped carbon fibre air intakes on the quarter windows. The headlights and air curtains in the front give a smooth look to the car and on the contrast the rear profile of the car gives an aura of being rough and enormous thanks to a massive diffuser, duck tail rear wing and for the first time in a stock Lamborghini, rear exposed tyres. These exposed rear tyres, 21-inches, do look good but they would invite a lot of dust and dirt so the owners should be aware and need to take care of the Temerario. One thing that has been continued from the Gallardo to Huracan and now the Temerario is the inclusion of the iconic lines on the hood which starts wide but then narrows down till the point of the Lamborghini logo. Coming to the interior of the Temerario, the engineers and designers at Lamborghini have really made it big this time. The look and feel of the interior, the character of the cabin, everything is just breath taking.

...

This time, Lamborghini ditched the orange colour on the exterior body, and included it as a dual colour along with black for the interior. With more wheelbase, the Temerario also has increased headroom for more comfort and luxury. Along with the luxurious interior, there is carbon fibre on the steering wheel and AC vents to remind the driver behind the wheel that he/she is sitting in a super sports car. The centre console of the Temerario looks like an alien head and for this the designers at Lamborghini are really proud. The Italian company introduced the concept of “feel like a Pilot” by adding futuristic elements to the car like adding a lot of buttons on the steering wheel and including 3 screen setup in the cabin. These screen setup includes – 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 8.4-inch infotainment screen on the centre, 9.1-inch passenger screen. These screens are a part of what Lamborghini calls HMI or Human Machine Interface System. This system makes all 3 screens run by a single unit for consistency. Swiping from one screen to another can be used to move content just like our smartphones. Keeping the disappointing headlights aside, the Temerario’s design, its craftsmanship and the complete vibe is so much better than the Huracan. It is futuristic, it’s comfortable, luxurious, and not to mention, superior in its segment.

...

Conclusion

Lamborghini also revealed the lighter and even more sportier version called the TEMERARIO ALLEGGERITA. The sportier version is 25kgs less in dry weight and adds more carbon fibre on duck tail wing ing and tyres. The Temerario directly lock horns with the likes of McLaren Artura and Ferrari 296GTB, and so its going to be a fight of the decade. Yes, the Temerario is more expensive and heavier in the segment, but it’s more faster and powerful all thanks to the beautiful engine built by Lamborghini itself. With great engine specs, cool looks and a heavy price tag, the Lamborghini Temerario truly deserves to be the Huracan successor.
